I’m working on some other ongoing pieces atm, but I wanted to throw up two quick drawings I’ve done over the past couple of weeks. I’ve been trying to do more sketches/speed-paintings.

The incredibly beautiful and funny Billie Piper! 90 min speed-painting with acrylics on paper, painted from a photo.

Got drunk one night and drew a portrait of my sister, who can model and play video games at the same time. I used whatever I could get my boozy little hands on: sharpie, highlighter, colored pencil, calligraphy pens, white-out pen.

Hopefully I can post some completed work soon!

Destination Imagination, Silicon Valley T-Shirt

Destination Imagination is an AMAZING program that I’ve had the pleasure of being a part of for over 10 years. My entire family has participated and volunteered for the program, specifically for the Silicon Valley Region. This year I got to make the regional t-shirt!

My very talented friend Jen helped me with the text, as my typographical knowledge ends at “comic sans bad.” I’m super happy with how it turned out and can’t wait to see it in t-shirt form!

Working hard, or hardly working?

Omgood gravy, this artblog sure got off to a rocky start. New job, then the holidays, then moving all got in the way of making any finished work. But now that I’m settled (for the time being), hopefully that will change. And it helps that I’m feeling especially productive these days.

Here’s a WIP on a painting I’m having a really hard time bringing myself to finish. It will eventually be a “firefox,” a skeletal fox with fire for body and fur. Completely my sister’s concept! The difficult part of being a biologist and an artist is wanting to make “accurate” animal depictions, especially when they’re skeletal! But once this image is done, I’d feel better about getting away with drawing less than accurate firefox skeletons

Tokyo Police Club

One of my favorite bands, Tokyo Police Club, played at H.O.P.E. Volleyball Summerfest a couple weekends ago. The concerts were at a beach that’s literally a 10 minute walk from our apartment! My goal to see a favorite Canadian band of mine while living in Canada has been reached.
